In September the average rate on new mortgages for buying a home rose to 3.61%, from 3.55% in August. That is the figure in the Italian Banking Association's monthly report released on 17 October. A year earlier, in September 2025, it was 3.25%.
The average rate on all loans, including those signed in previous years, is 4.24%.
It is a national average: each bank applies its own terms, which depend on the length of the loan, the share of the price financed and the borrower. That is why it is worth comparing several offers on the date of the application.
